Boy injured after being hit by truck in Haysville

HAYSVILLE, Kansas – Emergency crews rushed a 6-year-old boy to the hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a pickup.

It happened Thursday morning at 8 a.m at Grand and Delos in Haysville.

The kindergartner was crossing the street to Nelson Elementary School with his mother when he was hit and dragged about 30 yards.

He suffered serious injuries to his legs and is hospitalized at Via Christi St. Francis.

The mother was not hurt.

Police say the driver, who is in his 80s, may not have seen a red light at the intersection because the sun was in his eyes.

The boy was recently upgraded to fair condition. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
