Two injured in south Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said two people were injured in a shooting Saturday at the Ashley Lane Apartment complex. It happened around 9 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Oliver.

Officers said a 25-year-old man was arguing with his 23-year-old brother. Police believe the argument started over some fruit snacks.

“The 25-year-old brother struck the back of his brother on the head with a handgun, and the gun discharged,” said officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department.

The shot struck the 23-year-old brother in the shoulder. Another 36-year-old man received a gunshot wound to the leg. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 25-year-old suspect in the shooting got in a car and drove away.

“We are still trying to talk to the 25-year-old male and still trying to speak to him,” said Davidson.
