One person has died after motorcycle crash in Butler Co.

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – One person has died after a motorcycle crash in rural Butler County.

The accident happened around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. It happened in the westbound lane of US-54 just before SE Cole Creek. The driver of the motorcycle and the female passenger were both ejected from the bike after the driver lost control of the bike.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet both the driver and the passenger on the motorcycle were wearing helmets. The female passenger suffered minor injuries.

The helicopter that was responding to the crash also broke down temporarily at the site.

Officials say US-54 in Butler County has been reopened following a crash that left one person in critical condition.

Butler County dispatchers tell us the highway was closed from Bluestem Road to KS-177 around noon Saturday.

They say a helicopter was responding to a motorcycle crash when it broke down.

The victim has been taken to the hospital in critical condition. Details on that crash have not been released at this time.

Officials say the helicopter has been removed from the highway and all lanes have been reopened.
