WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Officials are working to fix a water main break in south Wichita. It happened on Pawnee in front of The Willows Apartments.
An eight inch water main valve failed today in the area of Pawnee and Hillside, forcing repairs that have interrupted water service for about 145 customers including several businesses in the area.
Service is expected to be restored in approximately six to eight hours, according to Public Works & Utilities officials.
The eight-inch main is fed from a 16 inch main along Pawnee. The repair work requires crews to shut off the 16 inch main along Pawnee, from Hillside to I-135.
City staffers are going door-to-door to inform customers of the repair.
The valve that failed was installed in 1981.
