OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KSNW) – Along with helping Wichita State pick up a 76-73 road win over Oklahoma on Saturday, WSU’s Daishon Smith also unleashed one of the best highlights of the game.
Listed as 6’1″, Smith exploded to the bucket and threw down a posterizing dunk against the Sooners.
Smith said, “It was big, it was a big energy change for us and the guys, I mean, just driving down the lane I saw (number) 11 on the opposite box, so I went up to raise and I think he ended up jumping as well, and it was just man vs. man, I just wanted to slam it home, give us some momentum.”
Marveling over the play, Smith added, “I can’t believe I completed a dunk, I thought I was going to slam it too hard, bounce out on the opposite side of the rim, I think I dunked it and hung on it a little bit, did like a 360, I knew I completed it when I saw the bench go crazy.”
Ranked as one of top 20 sophomore signees in the JUCO class of 2016, Smith signed with WSU in the Fall of last year. He gives the Shockers another experienced and talented point guard to help replace All-American Fred VanVleet.
