WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – One person has died in a roll-over accident in east Wichita. The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday in the interchange at K-96 Highway and eastbound Kellogg.

“We arrived and there was one occupant of a 1998 Ford Explorer, at that time which was the only occupant, which was the driver which was pronounced dead at the scene,” said KHP Trooper Chad Crittenden.  He said the victim was a 33-year-old woman from Wichita.

“She was on the ramp from eastbound K-96 to eastbound Kellogg, which is a sweeping turn to the left, or back to the east.  It looks like she went off the right side of the roadway carrying too much speed and started sliding down the embankment sideways on the grass.” He said the vehicle flipped and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The ramp has been the site of a number of vehicle accidents in the past in spite of numerous warning signs and lights leading up to the ramps at the intersection.

KHP identified the victim as 33-year-old Christina Kilgore of WIchita.
