Update: 4 identified in deadly Sumner County accident

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – Four people are dead after two cars collided in Sumner County Saturday.

Tthe Summer County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North U.S. 81.

A 2007 Chrysler 300 was traveling northbound on the highway and attempted to cross over into southbound traffic. That’s when it collided with a 2015 Chevy Cruze driving southbound.

Both cars were carrying two people each. All four were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Carl Ray Waugh, Jr, Marcia A. Waugh, Timothy Baumgartner and Cheryl Baumgartner.

Officers say all of the victims are from the Wellington area.
