Teen charged in Thanksgiving shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 15-year-old boy is now charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Wichita teen last week outside of a south Wichita business.

Jimmy Shopteese died after being shot outside the Lost Sock laundromat on Thanksgiving morning. He and his friend ran across the street to a Burger King to call for help.

The 15-year-old boy was charged in Sedgwick County court with first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, and possession of marijuana in connection to the case.

The teen’s next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2017.  The other suspect in the case is yet to be charged. Police are still looking for a third suspect.
