Man’s wallet taken during robbery in northeast Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said a 71-year-old man’s wallet was taken during a robbery. The robbery happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2600 block of North Belmont Street.

The man told officers he was walking his dog when he was approached by an unknown man.

The suspect had a handgun and demanded the man’s wallet. The man’s wallet was taken. Two witnesses said the suspect got into an older maroon Buick or Mercury and fled.

Police say you should be aware of your surroundings.

“We encourage all the citizens that are out walking their dog or out doing yard work  to always be aware of our surroundings. If you hear someone coming up towards you, just make sure you’re aware of your surroundings,” said Officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police Department.

There were no injuries to the man.
