Caught on camera: Saline County Sheriff’s deputy hits deer

SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Saline County Sheriff’s deputy hit a deer. It was caught on dash cam on Nov. 15 around 2:28 a.m. in the 6000 block of West Farrell’s Road southwest of Salina. No one was injured.

Over the weekend, Sheriff-elect Roger Soldan told KSAL News that Deputy Jay Rector was northbound on K143 in his patrol unit Saturday just before 11 p.m. and was struck by a deer. The 2013 Ford truck had damage to the right front end and some minor hood damage. The deer was killed in the collision. There were no injuries and a damage estimate to the truck was not available.
