Update: Victim in fatal collision southwest of Wichita identified

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – One man is dead after two vehicles collided at a intersection Sunday.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputies said the victim, identified as 78-year-old Hoyt W. Sunderland, was driving south on 135th Street West and MacArthur around 11 a.m. Sunday when his pickup truck collided with an SUV traveling west.

Sunderland was pronounced dead by deputies at the scene.

The other car’s occupants, two young women, were uninjured.

Deputies say the driver of the truck either failed to stop at a stop sign or stopped and then pulled into the intersection in front of the SUV.
