Two arrested after stealing purse from 81-year-old woman

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman after they stole a purse from a woman and attempted to rob several teenagers Monday.

According to police, the incident started around 2 p.m. in the 7400 block of East Pagent. Three teenage boys reported to police that a suspect approached them with a tan colored assault rifle. The suspect demanded money. No money was given, and the suspect left in a white Dodge Charger.

About a half hour later, police were called to the Walmart in the 6100 block of West Kellogg. An 81-year-old woman told police that a suspect stole the purse off her shoulder and climbed into a 2009 Dodge Charger.

An observant officer stopped a car with the description at Sedgwick and Irving streets. The 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were taken into custody. The 28-year-old man was booked for attempted aggravated robbery.
