Plenty of Wichita-area schools competing for state titles

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Most of Kansas may be turning their attention to basketball, but five Wichita-area schools still have plenty to play for on the gridiron.

Derby goes for its second straight 6A state title against Blue Valley on Saturday in Emporia. In Class 5A, Goddard plays in its second state title game against defending champion Mill Valley at Pittsburg State.

In 4A-1, it’s Buhler going for its first state title since 2013, taking on two-time defending state champion Bishop Miege in Topeka, while in 4A-2, Pratt tries to knock off Hayden in Salina. Then in 3A, it’s Hesston against two-time defending state champ Rossville out in Hutchinson.

Plainville is taking on Troy in the Class 2A state championship game in Hays. All games start at 1 p.m.
