GREAT BEND, Kan. (KSNW) – A two-vehicle crash left a central Kansas man dead Monday. The crash took place on U.S. 56 Highway near mile marker 200, west of Great Bend at around 10:50 a.m.
Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said in a news release 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe was westbound on U.S. 56 when it crossed the center line an struck an eastbound 2001 Kenworth tractor-trailer. The driver of the Tahoe was identified as 38-year-old Brett E. Hamby of Burdett. Hamby was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, 57-year-old Larry D. Lienemann of Doniphan, Neb., was not injured.
Bellendir said the case is still under investigation.
