WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Karina Rodriguez has a heart for giving.
“I just want to help,” she says.
She’s been collecting anything that newborn Sophia Gonzales would need.
“Obviously, you know the need to get diapers and formula and wipes, all of that stuff the mom had for her,” says Rodriguez.
She’s a mother of two, so when she heard about what happened to Sophia, it hit her hard. When Sophia was safely returned home, Rodriguez began collecting basic newborn baby supplies.
More than 30 people have dropped off donations since this weekend. Monday, she took them to the family.
“Thanksgiving is coming up, Christmas is coming up, this family needs our help,” says Rodriguez.
Load after load, Rodriguez brought the family all of the donated items. Sophia’s father, still shaken, quiet and upset, came outside to help carry everything inside the home.
He expressed his appreciation to everything that he and the family have received from the community.
Organizers simply saying they want to help with the financial burden this family now faces on top of their emotional ones.
Rodriguez says, “Things they need, a formula, Similac Blue Lid formula, it is super expensive and that is what they need right now.”
Rodriguez says she is still accepting donation items. You can contact her by following this link to the facebook page where you can set up a time to meet with her.
