Fire displaces two families from southeast Wichita triplex

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Fire crews battled an early morning fire in southeast Wichita. It happened around 4:20 a.m. in the 7000 block of East Lincoln.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

The fire was extensive as several companies within the fire department were called out to respond.

Early reports suggested someone was trapped inside, but KSN later learned that the two people inside the triplex made it out before fire crews arrived.

Two of the three units at the triplex do house tenants, but one of the families was not home during the fire.

Both the families affected by the fire will receive help from the Red Cross, as they are considered displaced families.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Fire crews are still investigating what may have caused the blaze.
