Two injured after late night house fire in northeast Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Two people were injured following a house fire late Sunday evening. It happened around 11 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Bluff.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they found two victims, a 70-year-old man and 68-year-old man, not breathing inside the home.

According to firefighters, the fire originated in the basement, trapping one of the two victims.

Both victims had smoke inhalation and at least one of the two had injuries from burns.

Both victims were taken to Via Christi St. Francis hospital. One remains in the hospital in serious condition. The other is in critical condition.

Damage is estimated at $60,000. The origin of the fire looks to be in the basement. Right now, the cause is under investigation.
