Update: Police identify victim in fatal restaurant shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police have arrested a 20-year-old man in a fatal shooting at the Bida Saigon restaurant. It happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of East Harry.

The victim is identified as 47-year-old Tan Van Vu. He was a frequent customer at the restaurant.

According to police, the suspect was in the restaurant for two hours before the shooting. Witnesses told police the suspect was wandering around and not interacting with anyone.

“There were no disturbances, fights, or arguments. The suspect pulled out a weapon shooting and killing the victim,” said Lt. Todd Ojile, Wichita Police Department.

Police said the victim and the suspect did not know each other.

According to Sedgwick County Jail records, the suspect booked in the shooting is Jonah Isaac Tausche. He was arrested on the charge of first-degree murder.

The shooting was not gang related according to police.
