Bald Eagles rescued from sewer drain

ORLANDO, Fla. (WESH) — A bald eagle is recovering after it was rescued from an Orlando, Florida storm drain Thursday.

Two eagles were spotted in the drain before rescuers were called.

“I was probably the fifth person here, and when I came here, the two birds were stuck together in the drain. One had its claw in the other, and the one they rescued was bleeding,” one witness said.

After working to free the birds, one flew off, while the other sunk deeper into the drain.

The second bird, believed to be a female, was freed, but badly injured. Bird specialists with the Audobon Center for Birds of Prey stepped in to help.
