WICHITA Ks. (KSN) Police were searching for a suspect in connection to a homicide in North Terrace on Monday afternoon.
That search locked down McCollom and Peterson Elementaries for a short time
It ended up being a stressful day for George King when police showed up to his home.
“They came in and they were like there is a guy running can we go through your back yard and I said sure,” says King.
So King led police to the yard.
“I went in to the back and then I shut my shed,” says King.
Then King left.
“And then I went to Quick Trip and when I came back I guess then they found him in my shed,” says King.
King was shocked to learn the suspect was in his yard. He even had one of his dogs outside in his back yard.
“I guess that dog didn’t do his job.”
Wichita police and other agencies called in for the search say they took the man, wanted as a suspect in Monday’s homicide on North Terrace, into custody.
“We did a yard to yard search and we eventually located the subject hidden in a shed in the 13th block of North Murray and he is in custody at this time,” says Lt. Ryan Reynolds.
King says “He came out was staring me in the face like it was my fault or something.”
He says even though his dogs let him down..
” I have no idea how he got past them.”
He is relieved that the police were able to locate them man and take him into custody.
“Yeah they are doing their job now, they are doing pretty good.”
The two schools Peterson and McCollum Elementary were both put on lockdown for a short time during the search.
