WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita fire crews responded to two fires overnight and into Saturday morning.
The first fire was called out in the 1900 block of N. Market St. at a gym around 6: 30 a.m. Saturday.
That call was closely followed by a second fire at a home at the corner of Park Place and 13th Street.
Capt. Kelly Zane, with the Wichita Fire Department, told KSN the first fire at the gym on North Market had extensive fire damage but that it wasn’t as extensive as the home on Park Place, which he described as a total loss.
The initial danger is over and both fires are out, but Zane said the investigations into both locations will be ongoing for quite some time.
Crews aren’t taking any possibilities off the table, Zane said, adding that he can’t say at this time if the two fires are connected or how they started.
As of right now, the estimated damages to the fire at the gym on North Market are about $75,000. The home on Park Place is estimated to closer to $100,000 in losses.
