WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Thursday morning police chase ended in a crash in south Wichita. The crash happened around 4 a.m. at 31st Street South and Hillside.

A 13-year-old driver and two passengers, ages 13 and 15, were transported to the hospital with injuries.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s office was called out to the 2800 block of South Hydraulic for a burglary in progress at a business. A deputy in the area saw a car that had been reported stolen about 11:30 last night leaving the area of the burglary.

Deputies tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver didn’t stop eventually leading to a chase.

“Deputies pursued for a very short amount of time, approximately one minute, at which point the suspect was traveling southbound on Hillside, failed to negotiate the turn on 31st street and struck the retaining wall behind us,” said Lt. Keith Allen.

Traffic in that area was diverted for several hours while the investigation took place.
