WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Kansas is ranked 5th in cheapest gas prices, and Topeka is the 5th ranked cheapest priced metro in the nation according to AAA.

Lawrence is ranked 15th in lowest prices in the nations metros followed closely by Wichita at 22nd and Kansas City, KS at 25th.

Across the state drivers are still seeing a savings over last year’s prices. Many of the areas AAA monitors are below two dollars today. As recent as 2012, the statewide average was at $3.34 on this day.

Drivers may continue to see prices wobble up and down as traders speculate on the possibility of OPEC countries developing an output agreement over the next month. Additionally, planned and unplanned refinery maintenance continues across the United States and may result in regional fluctuations in gas prices.
