WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita Eisenhower National Airport airfares dropped 6 percent during the second quarter of 2016, compared to second quarter 2015, according to a Department of Transportation report.

The second-quarter, inflation-adjusted average fare was $381.39; in 2015, it was $404.20. Also, the 2016 average fare is 37 percent less than second quarter 2000, when the average fare was $601.34. For comparisons, the second quarter U.S. average fare fell 10 percent from 2015 and 26 percent from 2000.

“Flying Eisenhower is not only convenient, it’s affordable,” said Valerie Wise, Air Service and Business Development Manager. “Our fares are very competitive with those in the region. Plus, the convenience of flying from Wichita saves time and minimizes hassle. The substantial decrease in fares is attributed to the entrance of low-fare carriers in Wichita.”
