ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Two Arkansas City residents were arrested this week by the Arkansas City Police Department in connection with acts of sexual abuse involving a small child.

Timothy Ray Matthews, 21, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated criminal sodomy.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield with no bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. Matthews remained in custody at the time of this release.

Matthews’ bond will be set by District Court Judge Jim Pringle at his first court appearance.

Brandy Lynn Amundson, 29, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of endangering a child. She was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $1,000 bond through Arkansas City district court. Amundson remained in custody at the time of this release.

The arrests were the product of an extended investigation stemming from the initial report of child sex abuse that lasted for several days. Enough evidence was gathered to substantiate the initial report.

Police apprehended Matthews at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday in connection. His girlfriend, Amundson, was taken into custody the following day.
