WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Wichita Police Department showed their appreciation Wednesday for Rita Foster. Her efforts helped reduce crime in her neighborhood.

It was her report that lead to the arrest of a warranted man. The man knocked on her door asking if she wanted some yard work. The man had no tools, and Rita’s lawn was already mowed.

She snapped a picture and called police. That led police to the man who was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police say it is a great example of how the community can work with officers. It is something Foster is proud to share with her family.

“Hey look grandma got this award, and it’s because I said something and that a bad guy was taken off the street. You can do the same thing.”

The man was booked for all subsequent charges including possession of stolen property from two different cases and illegal drugs.
