TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) – Lovers of M&M’S will soon have a new flavor to devour. Caramel-filled M&M’S are slated to hit store shelves in late May 2017.

The new chocolate candy is filled with a soft caramel center, providing a perfect smooth texture in every piece. M&M’S Caramel contains 190 calories per serving and will be packaged in an eye-catching, bright blue bag.

The new candy will be manufactured in Topeka.

“Chocolate and caramel is such a popular flavor combination, especially with the fans of M&M’S,” explains Tanya Berman, Brand Director, M&M’S Brand. “In our research, our fans were enthusiastic at the possibility of a Caramel variant and we can’t wait for them to try the perfect balance of soft caramel and delicious M&M’S chocolate this spring.”

Mars Chocolate Corporate Affairs Manager Leslie Veneziano says at this time, they are not offering tours of the line due to the proprietary technology.

“After years of development, M&M’s now has developed the proprietary technology to enter the soft and chewy category in confection. M&M’S Caramel is proud to call Topeka home and over the last year we have invested $100 million in our Topeka site, hiring over 70 associates to support this national launch.”
