What is your plan to deal with the Kansas Budget?

The first thing I would do with the budget is to evaluate what is owed, revenue available and evaluate whether taxes need to be raised prior to further program cuts. Regardless of how much a budget is cut, if there are insufficient funds to meet what is owed, income must increase. My plan would be to review what worked for Kansas for years prior to Governor Brownback’s tax cuts. Taxing LLCs may be a “go-to” solution, but all options for increased revenue need to be explored.

What kind of changes do you support in rewriting the school funding formula? Do you support additional funding for Kansas schools?

What is your number one priority for the upcoming legislative session and how do you plan to address it?

My number one priority is reversing the “us and them” mentality that has invaded politics in America and Kansas. Republicans and Democrats are polite to each other every day in Kansas; eating at a restaurant, shopping at a store or cheering on a sports team. Kansans are the salt of the earth and, if we all work together, the priority of each Kansan can be addressed and solutions achieved together. A candidate can be part of the problem or part of the solution. I am asking for the people of District 85 to get me to Topeka to be part of the solution.
