What is your plan to deal with the Kansas Budget?

We need to repeal the 2012 income tax law and restore the LLC’s to the tax rolls. We need fair taxation. Clearly our revenues are not sufficient to balance the budget, even with the cuts to many of our vital services. We cannot simply cut spending. We must restore FAIR taxation for Kansans.

What kind of changes do you support in rewriting the school funding formula? Do you support additional funding for Kansas schools?

We need to go back to the former formula. It worked–and it would have been equitable if the legislature would have sufficiently funded it. Instead they replaced it with a block grant formula that was neither fair nor adequate. The old formula needs to be reinstated, and we need to fund it so that our children can receive the best education we can provide–they are the future of our state.

What is your number one priority for the upcoming legislative session and how do you plan to address it?

Fix the tax laws. Many of the other problems we are facing, such as properly funding education, can be addressed if we fix our budget problems. We need FAIR taxation, where everybody pays their share.
