What is your plan to deal with the Kansas Budget?

We need a tax system that makes sense, lowers tax burden on seniors and working families, and re-evaluates loopholes Brownback and Mike Petersen created for their donor friends. We have to stop making tax policy based on wishful thinking.

What kind of changes do you support in rewriting the school funding formula? Do you support additional funding for Kansas schools?

I support ensuring that Kansas Schools are equitably and adequately funded as is the legislature’s constitutional duty. Brownback and his allies dismantled our school funding system in favor of an unconstitutional system that threatened to close schools, and created uncertainty for districts, parents and their kids. We cannot let that happen again and must create a formula that creates certainty so school districts can plan for the future.

What is your number one priority for the upcoming legislative session and how do you plan to address it?

My number one priority is getting our economy back on track. Thanks to Sam Brownback and Mike Petersen’s economic experiments, our economy lags behind every state in the region. As a fiscally responsible job creator, I know that we must make a change and end this experiment.
