Sheriff’s deputy arrested in case of domestic violence

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said a deputy within the department was arrested Wednesday on charges of domestic violence. He was booked on one count of domestic violence and battery.

The name of the deputy or the victim isn’t being released pending the outcome of the investigation.

The sheriff said the incident happened at 4 a.m. and was reported by the victim. The victim wasn’t taken to the hospital.

“There was an incident today that the victim reported to us that the victim was battered,” said Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter. “At that point, the decision was made to make the arrest and book the deputy into jail on those charges.”

The sheriff said the deputy was commissioned and has been with the department for over 20 years.
