Police discover marijuana grow operation in west Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said they discovered a marijuana grow operation in the 1700 block of North Tony. It happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said they were tipped off to the home, after a 17-year-old man told them he had been robbed of his cash and shoes while at that location.

Officers went to the home and found five people inside.

“Officers smelled strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. A search warrant was drawn. A marijuana grow operation was found inside this residence,” said Sgt. Nikki Woodrow, Wichita Police Department.

Police arrested a 28-year-old woman, a 25-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man. All were arrested and booked for cultivation of marijuana.

Two others inside the home were not arrested. Police said the investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
