Update: Second teen arrested in deadly northeast Wichita apartment shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police said a second arrest has been made in a deadly apartment shooting in northeast Wichita.

It happened in the parking lot of the Woodgate Apartments in the 5400 block of E. 21st St. shortly before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Numerous calls were placed to 911 about the shooting. When emergency crews arrived, they found 18-year-old Debrylan Bell inside a car. He died as a result of the gunfire.

A woman, identified as 18-year-old Zahkayja Q. Beans, was booked for attempted first-degree murder. A 17-year-old man is also in custody in connection to the shooting. He is not being identified because he is a juvenile.

“During the investigation, 20 to 30 rounds were fired at the vehicle,” said Lt. Todd Ojile, Wichita Police Department.

Police said Bell had gone to the apartments to see someone.

Bell’s homicide is the nineteenth this year in Wichita.

Police said the incident is gang related.
