GREAT BEND, Kan. (KSNW) – Great Bend school administrators said a threat was placed on Instagram Monday night by a student at the high school.
The threat was brought to the attention of police. The writings contained some violent references directed toward fellow students, as well as a reference to shooting responding police officers. It was titled “Skool Shooter” and appeared to be written in the form of a song or poem.
The student was apprehended by Great Bend police and was taken into protective custody to be evaluated by mental health professionals.
Administrators said there is no imminent danger to students or staff, and school will continue today as planned.
Superintendent Brad Reed said there will be additional police officers at the high school as a precaution.
The name of the student hasn’t been released. The police department’s investigation is still ongoing.
