Garden City school district to launch new website

The new website will be mobile-friendly, unlike the current site.

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Garden City school district is getting a major upgrade for its website, and students and parents will soon notice the difference.

“Our current website has been up for a number of years,” said Roy Cessna with USD 457, “and it really hasn’t been user friendly to the new devices.”

USD 457 is launching its new website on Saturday.

The Garden City public school system decided to overhaul its site last year to keep up with technology.

“The current website doesn’t meet the needs of the smart phones and tablets that a lot of people are using now,” said Cessna, “so the new website will be configured to work with the smart phones and tablets. It’ll also still work on the desktop as well.”

In addition to multi-platform function, the new site will also be more aesthetically pleasing, and information will be reorganized.

“It’s really more user friendly where people can access it easier,” said Cessna. “It’s easier to find the information compared to the previous website.”

The new website will have information specifically organized for students, parents, and staff.

The format of each school’s website will also be consistent with the new district website.
