WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police will hold a DUI check lane and extra saturation patrols this weekend.

The DUI check lane will be Friday night starting at 11 p.m. through Saturday morning at 3 a.m. The location of the check lane is undisclosed.

“It is a very short momentary stop. Officers will come and contact the drivers and check their driver’s license to make sure they aren’t impaired. Once they are cleared, they go on their way,” said Sgt. Nikki Woodrow, Wichita Police Department.

The check lane is being coordinated and is in partnership with the Sedgwick County Sheriff, Sedgwick County Emergency Management, Salvation Army, and DUI Victim Services of Kansas.

The department urges people to find a ride such as a taxi or Uber.

Also, the police department received a saturation grant. It will allow extra officers to search for impaired drivers on the street. It will run from Friday and Saturday.
