Flood cleanup continues in Sumner County

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – Flood cleanup is continuing in Sumner County. Wayland Buller has lived near Belle Plaine for nearly 30-years and has seen his home flood several times. This past weekend’s rain pushed two feet of water into his basement.

Volunteers from the Great Plains United Methodist Conference helped Wayland and his wife clean up. They tore down damaged drywall and ceiling tiles from their home.

“They know what they’re doing, they know what they’re doing,” said Buller.

“My volunteers are just phenomenal, I mean they are a phenomenal group of people,” said Rev. Hollie Tapley. “They’re the ones that have been here countless days and hours working, must like they’re doing right now.”

This is fifth week volunteers have been out helping. They hope to have all of the flooded homes cleaned up by this weekend.
