Lawrence woman killed in Leavenworth County crash

TONGANOXIE, Kan. (KSNW) – A Lawrence woman was killed Monday evening in a two vehicle crash near Tonganoxie.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 2002 Sierra GMC was eastbound on U.S. 24/40 when it crossed over the double yellow line on the road striking a 2009 Chevy Equinox heading westbound. KHP said both vehicles came to rest on the right side of the road.

The driver of the Sierra was identified as 32-year-old Austin Michael Rose of Eudora. He was taken to KU Medical Center with injuries.

The driver of the Equinox was identified as 51-year-old Kelly Fowler of Lawrence. Fowler was pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old and 1-year-old were also in the vehicle and had possible injuries according to KHP.

KHP says everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, and the 1-year-old was properly restrained in a child seat.
