HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – A 12-year-old girl crashed a truck into the Hilltop convenience store in Walton.

It happened at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The Harvey County Sheriff’s office said a 71-year-old employee of the store was outside picking up trash when he was struck by a truck driven by a 12-year-old girl. The impact pushed the employee through a plate-glass window.

The driver stated that she hit the gas instead of the brake.

The employee was transported to a Wichita hospital with a possible fractured femur.

The 12-year-old driver of the truck was transported to Newton Medical Center to be checked out for any possible injury. She had a licensed 16-year-old man in the rear passenger seat and an unlicensed 17-year-old woman in the front passenger seat.

The 16-year-old man was cited with contributing to a child’s misconduct. The investigation continues by the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.
