Man breaks leg, tells police he was escaping gunman

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police say a man broke his leg jumping a fence to get away from a shooter.

Officers says the incident happened at 3 a.m. this morning, in the 1000 block of South Woodlawn.

A 35-year-old male told police he was dumpster diving when a dark colored sedan pulled up to his location. Then he tells police a man to out of the car and started firing shots at him. Six rounds were fired, according to the report.

The victim says he ran and jumped a fence. When he landed, he broke the lower part of his right leg. That man was was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

The victim was not shot in the process. Police are still investigating the inciden.
