WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Wichita man has been arrested for calling 911 an excessive amount of times. From Sept. 1 to Sept. 9, the man called Sedgwick County dispatchers 743 times.
Police said he called from a prepaid phone which made it extremely difficult to track because no names are associated with those phones.
Officers were glad to track down the suspect, so dispatchers wouldn’t be tied up with his calls when someone else has a real emergency.
“It takes up a lot of time from dispatch, you know with these 911 calls coming in. It ties up a dispatcher when a dispatcher could be talking to somebody else,” said Sgt. Nikki Woodrow, Wichita Police Department.
The man is charged with a misdemeanor count of making a false police report.
