WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Citing personal reasons, redshirt sophomore Peyton Allen has withdrawn from Wichita State University and is no longer a member of the men’s basketball program, head coach Gregg Marshall announced Wednesday.
“We’re sad to see him go, but after talking things over with Peyton and his parents, we all agreed that the best course of action was for Peyton to put basketball and school on hold while he sorts some things out,” Marshall said.
“I ask that you respect his privacy at this time, but I do want to emphasize that this was not a basketball-related decision, nor did it pertain to any off-the-court conduct or violation of team rules. We think highly of Peyton and wish him well in life and in basketball.”
Allen transferred to WSU from Texas A&M in August, 2015. The 6-foot-5 guard was a member of WSU’s practice squad during the 2015-16 season while satisfying NCAA transfer requirements.
