Butler County para educator charged with sexual misconduct

DOUGLASS, Kan. (KSNW) — Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet said Wednesday that Becca Wixon, 23, a paraprofessional in Butler County Schools, had been arrested for sexual misconduct.

Herzet said the Douglass School District contacted the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on Monday asking them to investigate a possible case of sexual misconduct between a school para education and a student in the Douglass schools.

The Sheriff’s Office say the case involves a 16-year-old boy who was 15 at the time of the alleged contact. Sheriff Herzet said their investigation with the teen led them to Wixon.

Herzet said Wixon was interviewed and a search warrant was issued for her home. She has since been charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and two counts of unlawful sexual relations.

Douglass Public Schools, USD 396 released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

The Douglass School District received word that there is an active investigation being conducted by the Butler County Sheriff’s office regarding an inappropriate relationship between a Douglass Student and a Butler County Special Education Inter-local 638 Para. The Para has been relieved of their duties and is no longer employed by the Inter-local.    Both the Douglass School District and the Butler County Special Education Inter-local take student safety seriously and are cooperating fully with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
