8:37PM More records–this time from Southwest Kansas. Dodge City hit 98 degrees, breaking the old record of 95 set in 1970. And, Garden City hit 99 degrees, edging out the old record of 77 set in 1977.

8:08PM Beautiful, quiet and warm weather across Kansas at this hour. So warm that we actually had record heat. Russell hit 96, breaking the record of 95 set in 1981. Meantime, Salina tied its record of 96 set all the way back in 1955. Wichita did not get a record–stopping at 95. The record for today is 99 in the hot summer of 1980.

5:51PM Oh, it is just fine and summery right now–as long as you don’t mind the mugginess in the Central and Eastern parts of Kansas. But later this week–just as we get ready for the weekend–changes are coming. We will get more September like temperatures, but we will also have a chance for showers and storms. So this all could impact your weekend plans. Double check them with us on KSN News at 6, or anytime here on KSN.com.

4:49PM Coming up on KSN News at 5, we’ll help you make your weekend plans–which could be a bit of a challenge. That is exactly when we’ll see a transition from this summery pattern to something much more like September should be! Not only cooler temperatures, but also some showers and storms are in our forecast. Away from your TV, just check right here on KSN.com anytime.

3:30PM Summer is still in command this afternoon! While we have a few high, thin cirrus clouds they are not providing much relief. Temperatures are well up into the 90s across most of Kansas–even pushing the triple digits in some places. And, in the Eastern half of the state, including Wichita, the humidity is adding to the misery. However we continue to see signs of a much different feel beginning over the weekend. Check your weekend plans with our forecast here on KSN.com.

11:45AM Wichita’s record high for today is 99 set in 1980… I don’t think we’ll break that record today but we’ll be in the ball park… Some record highs could be set across NC and SW Kansas. Join us on KSN News at Noon.

9:00AM Sunny and hot weather is anticipated across the state… Southerly winds will get a little gusty, especially in W KS.

7:45AM A warm and muggy morning will turn into a hot and oppressive afternoon. Once again heat indexes could climb into the triple digits.

6:00AM¬†Some patchy fog this morning. Hutch is reporting visibility of around 2.0 miles… Any lingering fog will thin by mid morning.

5:30AM Another warm and muggy start to your morning… More summer heat on the way this afternoon. Join us on Kansas Today for a first look at your forecast and news headlines.

4:30AM Some patchy fog is possible this morning. Any fog should lift by mid morning.
