NEW YORK (NBC) – Bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami has been charged with five counts of attempted murder following his Monday shootout with New Jersey police.
Rahami was taken into custody Monday morning after a shootout in Linden. Rahami was shot in the leg; two police officers were shot, one was hit by bullet fragments and two more suffered minor injuries. He is charged with the attempted murder of those police officers.
So far he has not been charged in connection with the three bomb blasts that took place in New York and New Jersey over the weekend.
Federal prosecutors say they’re still weighing charges connected to the bombings that injured 29 people.
