WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Guy D. Harris was sentenced Thursday to 47 months for an attack on a student at East High School last September. Back in July, Harris pleaded guilty to one count of sexual battery.

The student said Harris followed her into bathroom and sexually battered her. He did not attend the school.

Police said a tip to Crime Stoppers helped track him down after the attack.

In response to the assault, East High School started locking all exterior doors to school with the exception of door #4 on the south side of the building.

USD 259 is facing a lawsuit from an East High student over the case. The lawsuit claims that the district left doors unlocked, unsecured and unmanned allowing a suspect to enter the school and sexually battery the student in a bathroom.
