Tattoo thief skips out on bill

DENVER, Colo. (KUSA) – Police in Denver, Colorado are searching for a tattoo thief.

It began when a guest tattoo artist at Sol Tribe finished a piece that took seven and a half hours to complete Saturday night

His client angrily “nitpicked a couple of details that could have been fixed,” quickly got dressed and left without paying an $1,100 bill.

“It is a heavy hit to an artist that has put that much time and effort and love into something and be victimized like that,” said Porscha Butler said, who works at Sol Tribe.

The tattoo now lives on the arm of Ari Chiaroscuro, according to the driver’s license required at check-in. In Italian, Chiaroscuro means the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting. Ironically, this tattoo was of black and grey paintbrushes with wings.

“Typically, you build a really nice relationship with someone over that amount of time. This guy wasn’t very talkative, nor very friendly,” Butler said. “Typically our clients are amazing. This is not a typical experience for us.”
