West Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – One person is in critical condition after a shooting outside of a west Wichita Hotel.

It happened early Friday morning in the 7300 block of West Taft.

Officers say an argument that started inside the Twin Peaks restaurant escalated out into the parking lot.

The 33-year-old victim told police that a man he met in the restaurant got out of a white SUV and pointed a handgun at him. That’s when a physical fight began and the gun dropped to the ground. A friend of the man in the SUV picked up the gun and struck the victim in the head, then shot him in the leg.

The victim’s injuries were not considered life threatening.

Wichita Police are still investigating the shooting. They said they don’t know at this time if any of the men involved were staying at the hotel.
