Update: I-70 reopens west of Salina after gas leak

SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Highway Patrol said I-70 had reopened after a reported gas explosion shutdown both directions. It is happened near milepost 233 west of Salina.

A spokesperson from Northern Natural Gas Company in Omaha told KSAL News that one of their underground natural gas lines ruptured early Thursday afternoon. There was no explosion when the line ruptured.

The company says that there are no injuries.

Company personnel are on the scene, and “out of an abundance of caution” the interstate was shutdown. The company said the public is not in danger.
