Cowley County College students help with flood cleanup

MULVANE, Kan. (KSNW) – The storms and flooding left a lot of debris and damage behind. Now, Mulvane residents are getting help with cleaning it up from an unlikely source.

More than 40 athletes from Cowley County College showed up to lend a hand.

They were put to work doing everything from stripping out soggy floors to helping clear away water-damaged furniture and appliances.

“And I graduated from Cowley myself, so I am very thankful that they are doing services like that for the communities around them,” said Ginger Hopper, Mulvane resident.

The Cowley County athletes were from the men’s basketball and women’s track and field team.

If you need help, the Salvation Army will be at the Mulvane Public Library Thursday from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Storm victims can get up to $150 in assistance.
